Make Music Monday

Hi there lovers!

It's been quite a trans formative weekend for me.
I've decided to 180 my diet and go Raw. I won't be boring you with the details of it on this blog, so I decided to start a blog for it over on wordpress [ Raw A Day ]

I've mostly been doing that all weekend, but during the past week I had a sudden burst of inspiration and came up with the fourth Part for the 'Little Asian Girl' series, I've been stuck on Number 3 so it's been stiflingly me but the fourth song came to me and I just went with it.

This recording is quite bleh to me, and I had full intentions on re-recording it today when I got home from work, but I guess my voice had other ideas, I even tried some vocal exercising and it's just not working out for my voice today, but I wanted to present you with something so I hope you can get the gist of it but know that it's not at it's full-potential, Oh! and it was also recorded with my new mic, so I'm pretty proud of that fact.

As for the Little Asian Girl series, most everyone knows Part One, but I actually wrote Part Two first, but I don't really like it in comparison to Part One so it's not on any cd's or online currently, and I plan on having 5 parts so just two more to go and I can have the whole project together. The thing with the Little Asian Girl is that I want it to be all natural and not forced so I've just let the songs come to me when they do so I can't really put a time line on it.

I got the supplies to make one of the items for the show I'm playing in a couple of weeks, the flyer is being made up now so I'll post it when it's finished to let everyone know officially when it will be and where and time and what-not. But the thing I'm making is pretty spectacular, I have two ideas but I don't know if I'll be able to get them all done in time, I hope so though!

Well I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Much Love,
Jemibook

Allo!

Insanity week and weekend over here in Jemibook Land.
So glad that's over, and this week is the start of my new exercise regiment, and starting real work on my performance in a few weeks. The house is finally clean and mostly put together so I'll be able to take real pictures soon.
My Lover and I decided that our house doesn't really have any style right now, it's mostly thrifty-style, lots of strange ideas placed together.
It will probably take a long time for us to develop a style we like together.

This is a song, that I've liked and then hated, and then liked again. Now I'm kind of okay with it because the chorus is nice, but my uke skills are bleh where I mess up. This song is pretty obvious, so I'm sure I don't need to explain it, but luckily I haven't been put in this situation since then.

The video footage that we were able to produce last week was pretty fun, we weren't able to fully get everything done so we will plan to do so before my little Asian girl leaves for London.

Here is a sneak peek of what my little Asian girl looked like all dressed up in her outfit for the video-shoot! And the main picture is a shot from the video shoot. We shot at a playground and all of these little kids [for some reason weren't in school] were following us wherever we filmed, so we got a final shot with a group of them, with this amazing Rainbow that was at the front of the park...yes it was soooo Jemibook, just perfect for the video-shoot!

Also I've been obsessed with Patrick Watson as of late. I think everyone should check him and his music out!

Well that is all for now.
Until Next time!

Much Love,
Jemibook

Happy Monday!

Another week another song.

This week's song is an old songs that came randomly as I came home late from work and school last year. One of my first multi-track songs with my own 'language' in one of the tracks.

I was really feeling this song today while I was driving to Palm coast, after work to come and babysit my brother for the week.

This week instead of working on a new song I'll be working on the first official music video for Jemibook for 'Little Asian Girl Part 1'. It will be made with the official 'Little Asian Girl' and should be pretty fabulous with all of the ideas that we have spouting in our brain of different scenes and ideas.

In additional news the Show that I'm scheduled to do was pushed back to May still @ Square One, and I will give more information when they have the flyer and all of that nonsense completed.

Not too much else to report.

Much Love,
Jemibook

Things I love.

I've been saving these tidbits of love in my favorites for quite awhile.
Decided I would share some of them with the world.

Jaqueline Knits makes these beauties on Etsy.
I found these randomly searching on there one day and was delighted, because I carry apples with me all the time in my purse just in case I'm a big hungry when I'm out, so i don't randomly spend money on food, and these are just a genius idea for keeping them from bruising, she also makes Pear shaped ones and tea holders, all things that I would purchase and love.

Kiwi Cucumber Cold Process HANDMADE soap.
There is something strange about me, that whenever I see handmade soap something deep within me glees with delight. I'm unsure if it's the fact that I know exactly what's going into it, the fact that the scents always last FOREVER and end up making the entire house smelling incredible for an hour or so after using it, or just the fact that I can personally know the person who handmade these highly indulgent beauty products. They just make me so happy and my love for them is boundless.
Brandli on Etsy makes this Kiwi one but she also has other flavors/scents

A super cute poptart ipod cozy. My ipod gets ABUSED, and it is used nearly every single day at my work, I thought it would be better suited in this lovely case, which is funny to me because I used to make things exactly like this back when I had a crafty bizzness. I found this on etsy but went back and checked it today and realized the girl had closed down her shop, but that DIY had asked her for a tutorial to put on their website of this item and she said yes! So now everyone can make one for free!
Link here!

These amazing lace-up socks handmade by ilusoria on etsy. When I saw these my attention was grabbed, I like the longer version also, but they were too much money for me at the time. But it seems that she is going on a summer vacation and trying to sell all her stock for cheaper than normal, I may have to get on the band-wagon now before it's too late.

These Nightmare Snatcher Journals by Spiderbite on Etsy are perfect for my little kid imagination. Whenever I see it, it makes me think of that old movie with Maculhey Culkin [i just butchered his name i know] where he wears some harry potter like glasses and i think the doctor from back to the future is in it. Either way this big furry book intrigues me, and I would love to take it around town to doodle in it and draw people looking like monsters.

One of these amazing nameplates by Helpless Romantic sporting my 'Jemibook' pride. I found these while reading nubbytwiglet's flickr a few months ago and realized how much I needed one in my life, but like most things $$$ is an issue, one day!

These absolutely decadent gloves from Glovedup. I have no idea what I would wear them with other than some super shear white number with a tutu or something, and my hair up like an ice cream cone but I just love to wear gloves especially long ones they make me feel so glamourous

But that little house was just making me cramped with all of our stuff in there, and we finally have it a little bit organized around these parts so I was inspired to put together an outfit and take some shots of it, for tonight's 'Are Friend's Electric'.

Jacket: My lovers
Tuxedo Shirt: My Lovers
Yellow Polka Dotted Skirt: Gifted by my Anastasia
Green Soccer Socks : Gifted by my Anastasia
White Shoes : Gifted by my Anastasia
Cummerbund: My Lover's.

I like that this entire outfit is from other people's waredrobe's. My Lover and I often swap clothes, he can fit into my pants but I can't into his though, we share accessories and such, it's pretty sweet.

Random.

If you haven't heard already about [Muxtape.com] then you need to.
So I am presenting it to you now, i'm a bit addicted to it.
I used to go to the Hype Machine whenever I needed to listen to something that was random and could happen upon something that I like, but the Hype Machine has gotten to high-tech, I liked how minimal it once was.
That's where Muxtape comes in. You upload 12 songs of your choice and it makes you, your own page with the songs and all you have to do is click on the first song and it goes through all the songs like a mixed tape. You can send the link to anyone to listen to your music, I just uploaded music to mine [ http://jemibook.muxtape.com/ ] I made an easy-going mix, but on the main page there is just all of these links with everyone elses page who has uploaded 12 songs and you can go and listen to their mixes. I like to click on someone @ random and then if they have one or two songs that I know or like I listen to their mix and I usually find someone else new on their list that I don't know of and can get into.

It's a great simple idea, and I appreciate it much! check it out for yourself.

I've been a bit obsessing about these cookies. More about making them. They seem to have an endless amount of possibilities to differentiate them with your own flavor combinations and that pleases me. I joined a Macaron Group on Flickr so I could be enlightened into the way of making these delectable bites, but it seems that these are pretty hard to make. I haven't yet tried a recipe, but more than researching before I go out and get ingredients.

Some Uke's that I have been drooling over for ages...

Hi-de-ho-diddly-do My lovelies!

This past week was INCREDIBLY out of control for me.
I'm not used to being around so many people and having a million things to accomplish in one week, along with working and sustaining myself as I normally do.
So today I can finally sort of relax.

It was my birthday week, so I celebrated in some way each day, on my actual birthday [april 1st] my lover and I moved into our new place which was incredibly strenous after a day @ work.
On Wednesday my grand friend [Anastasia] came up from Palm Coast and my lover and I all went to Art Walk and then some party on the top level of a parking lot and then off to Square One for 'Are Friend's Electric' which is now 18+ for all of those who would like to join but couldn't before.
Thursday i was planning on working but ended up a bit to disoriented from the night before to do so, so it was quality time with my lover and semi-organizing the house.
Friday, kicked back some beers with some friends and chatted it up and walked about town.
Saturday was my official birthday party [Art.Smart.Poptart]. And was terribly awesome. We hung cotton candy, coke bottle candy, and some sour strips tied into bows from the ceiling. I made rainbow jello shots, and my friend Anastasia made cookie art, I taped candy buttons to the wall as well as brown paper for drawing and spread out some of my own art supplies on the table set up a laptop with some tunes and let the night ensue.

The Cotton candy was the most fun, by the end of the night it had turned into some rock candy and was hanging around the place looking like dead-meat or some cave stalagmites

This was the beginning of the drawing, each person was required to make me some art, so this got added to and is pretty filled, I will be taking some pictures of it soonish.

And this is my lovely friend Anastasia giving some of the raw-meat cotton candy to some of the friendly guests of the party.

I enjoyed the party much, and can't wait to come up with some other brilliant funtime for another party.

Sunday we mostly cleaned, and an old Sega Genesis was found and played for most of the day.

Okay-okay enough of this jibba-jab I know let's get to the GOOD STUFF ! MUSIC!

What's that you ask?
Two songs in a row, two weeks in a row?
Yes that's right! That's because for my birthday I got something that I had been trying to save up for, for a bit of time.
My lover purchased me a Snowball!

A USB Mic, I didn't know something so beautiful existed yet. But I decided I would test it out on a song that I haven't posted yet. So the first song is the orignal version that I recorded from the little mic that is built in with the computer [ what I've been recording all of my music from]. The second song is today's version that I recorded with my new Snowball. I'm pleased with how it sounds, I'm going to have fun experimenting with it some and testing it out in different places, the little stand that it comes with is very nice, and it's simple and easy to use so I'm happy-happy-happy about it!

As for what's going on in the future with Jemibook.
Next week there has been talk of a Jemibook music video, which I hope will happen.
and I believe April 30th will be Jemibook's first show @ a venue, I will be playing along with some other fine musicians at Square One, they are doing an artist/art-like show. I will be performing a hand-ful of songs and will bring cd's and a little extra-something-something. I hope to see some if not all of your pretty faces there!

Well that's all for this week's edition of Make Music Monday, I will try and do some posts during the week, but we're still organizing things around here and i'm a little bit out of sorts when it comes to being at home right now.

Have a great week otherwise!

Much Love,
Jemibook
