Make Music Monday

Happy early birthday to me!

In a few hours it will be my birthday over here on the east coast of the united states of america. This is how I will be celebrating: first by sleeping, then by working, then by moving!! Yes I will be much happy to be out of my current location and into a place with SPACE, and hard-wood floors [cha-ching!]

So with my glee comes today's song!

Did you just catch what I did?
That's right two songs this week.
How do I do it you ask... Well let me tell you.
It's the same song, okay well kind of.

Song number one is [Sea Urchin [ Uke version]]
and
Song number two is : Sea Urchin [ Electric Version]

Some of you may know that when I started making music back in '06
I had this lil ole Ibook and I was making electronic music on garageband and putting my vocals to what I had arranged. Thus song two was created.
It was one of my most favorite of all my songs at the time.
Then a few months down the line the uke and I became friends and history was made, I tried to re-make some of my electric songs into acoustic songs but became frustrated, but today I stumbled back upon this song and finally made it into the first song you heard.

This song was a cute song both times to sing, and when I wrote it, it was losely based off a night adventure @ the beach where my companion stepped on a sea urchin and his foot was inflammed for a week, quite bad for him but nice inspiration for a lovely song on my end.

So I hope you enjoy this week's edition with the two song-wammie!

I was pretty low-key this weekend my girly parts were gross and didn't want me to go out and party which was lame because there was a show I missed and a party that was supposed to be fun. But I will be making up for it this weekend @ my own special birthday party that I'm throwing, and the moving is going to be super fun for me. I'm kind of a moving junky I've yet to stay in one place for a year or more since 2002.

I've been writing and drawing a lot in my moleskine and will be posting more pictures and such when I live in a place with better lighting so you can anticipate that.

Send some love my way!

Much Love,
Jemibook

Allo there mateys!
Another Monday another song for you!
It's been another week of strange events, some I didn't want to be a part of, some I anticipated, and some I embarked on for the first time ever.
This week's activities made me realize that I was no longer harboring that strange after-break-up feeling about a recent past relationship, the kind where you still think of the person when you see something in your surroundings that reminds you of them and think back with that sad feeling about how it all went down. I finally didn't feel like that for this person anymore and it made me relieved.
And in celebration of that, I bring this song that I made while I was dating them, exclusively for that person, I believe no one has ever heard this song except for them, since I never put it on the internet.

I like the song for it's shear happiness and optimism, I can feel where I was at that point in our relationship, and I don't have good reminders like this for my past relationships, to show that it was going good at one point and wasn't all gross and bad. Plus I don't really know any songs about Yo-Yo's or people who yo-yo so that also makes me smile.

T-minus one week for my 23rd birthday. April 1st! The day we move out to our new place and my birthday. We'll be having fun on that Wed. @ Square One, and I'm going to be throwing a little party at our new place the Saturday following my birthday. More information on that in a few days.

Also I'm planning [ if the tickets aren't already sold-out] to go and see Kimya Dawson at one of our local venues this Thursday. I haven't gone to a show in awhile now and from what I've heard of Kimya's music I enjoy.

Hope you all have a great week!

Much Love,
Jemibook

Good Afternoon Lovely Inhabitants of the Planet Earth!

I'd like to greet you and shake each of your little fleshie hands, but I can't.
So to make up for this lack of hospitality I will grace your ears with a song!

When I made this song, late last August I was so proud of myself, I was just learning some new ways to play songs, new chords and such, and the lyrics for this particular song were particularly special to me. When I first started writing music back in 2006 most of it was me dealing with the demise of my first long-term relationship, and this song was the final note of all of those bitter feelings and distant memories. This song follows the basis of our relationship from end to beginning. I was finally able to think of some of the good times we had had in the 2 years we were together and I could see the relationship as a learning experience instead of a disaster that I regretted.

Also I never presented this song online, so to almost everyone this song is a 'new' song, but I have played it privately for a few select people.

Not much new to report for this past week, my lover and I did some family things for the first time in our relationship, and we'll be going to Easter Dinner with my family in Orlando next weekend, so hopefully that will be good, I haven't seen my extended family in almost a year now.

Also, for those of us who are too old to go to Prom @ Highschool. Square One is hosting their own Prom this Wednesday thanks to the 'Are Friend's Electric' gang. I'll be there in my 50s Prom Dress ready to get my dance on with a few lucky people's! I'd love to see you there!

Until next week...

Much Love,

I love this guys illustrations and I've been watching his stream for quite awhile now, I was tempted to post about the Mr. T artshow he was just in. But I thought that a Panda would be more relevant to my blog, considering I'm thinking of incorporating a panda into something that I'm developing inside my head right now.
Cara hope you enjoy!

Hola Senoritas!

I am soo happy that I started this song early last week because so much happened after it. My lover and I looked for new places to live this week, and found a place on Thursday I believe, and we've been trying to figure out the money and date and all that stuff, and now something else has possibly changed the date, we're excited about getting a bigger place together, [ I'm happy that it has wood floors I've always wanted wood floors, he's excited about the checkered board kitchen floors- he's always wanted those].

My loveliest-bestest friend Anastasia came to our house on Tuesday and we had a Wine and Dye party, Red-heads only invited to match the Red-Wine of course. So I invited Cara over also, and we all did a bit of dying and chatting and Shawn cooked us home-made tacos it was yummi, and now our hairs were all freshly red and dyed.

Finished the cd's this week, and worked a bit much. Had a few dinners and breakfasts, and I got Shawn to watch 'Angels in America' which is one of my favorite movies ever - and I think everyone should see it of course, but it is very long.

We also got some tea from Teavana which I had been coveting since I found out the place existed in the mall, it's particularly not cheap, but Shawn splurged and got us some really tasty tea that should last us awhile.

Okay okay enough of that jibba-jab.. onto this week's song.

I was feeling rather lovey-dovey last week with my best friend being here and my lover and I making plans for our future, thus this song was born. I think that it needs a choir in the background, if anyone can hook me up with that I would be most gracious.

As for upcoming shows. There is no definite word on the show yet so I can't say anything for sure. But I hope that it will clear up soon so I know if I can start working on stuff for it.

That's all for today I suppose. Have a great week!

Much Love,
Jemibook

Well. I'm sorry about last week, I didn't even manage to post up a vintage-Jemibook song for your listening pleasure, I made up for it by doing an impromptu 1 song show @ my friend's art-show on Friday, if you were there and had the pleasure of enjoying a drunken Jemibook song I'm unsure if I should congratulate you or not, but I had fun doing a little bit of improv afterwards.

This week's song was inspired by all the feedback I received at the show, I set up a little table that I brought with a sign, some cd's, and Jemivision glasses, with some cookies I half-made and some Blueberry vodka with shot glasses, I think people enjoyed it because all of the items that were on my table were gone by the end of the night, It was a great place to spread the Jemibook-message, so I am very thankfully for them letting me to have it there.

Jacksonville, Florida, my current place of residence, I moved here randomly last May and have been living on my own now for almost 5 months, which is kind of crazy, and I'm planning on moving in the next month to a nicer location in the downtown area, that's another reason why I was kind of m.i.a. the last week [ but seriously there is no excuse!]. So as much as I do want to go live in a lot of different places in the world, I'm happy to live in Jacksonville right now and to have the opportunities to meet the people I have and get their feedback on what I'm trying to do. Most other places I've lived I didn't have the luxury of being able to go out and meet people often because of location and such, but Jacksonville is pretty accommodating for someone who is a cheap-o.

In other Jemibook-music news. Cd's will be finished tomorrow, and I will be posting them for sale on my blog and myspace for $7 which includes shipping in the U.S.A. I'm hoping to get enough money to get a professional microphone and such so that the quality will be a bit better than what this little laptop microphone is able to do. Also I'm going to be using up one of my shows that I must do before the year is up by playing @ ArtWalk @ Square One next month, it's still in the works, but I think it's going to happen, and for those of you who don't know about a Jemibook show, should know that I plan on making something special for those attendees. Plus I'd love to see your faces so I can be super embarrassed that you came to see lil ole me play some silly songs on a uke!

Not too much else to report, but I really appreciate all the comments I got on Friday Night at the Artshow it really made me realize that I love what I'm doing here, and that it's the perfect fit for me.

Much Love,
Jemibook
